Frequently Asked Questions

Coaching Psychology is an evidence-based branch of applied psychology that supports individuals to enhance their wellbeing, performance, and personal growth. It integrates established psychological theories and coaching practices to help people achieve meaningful change, overcome barriers, and live in greater alignment with their values.

As a Coaching Psychologist, I combine my background in psychology and neuroscience with robust coaching frameworks to work collaboratively with clients. I specialise in working with adults—particularly those who are neurodivergent or navigating complex personal or professional contexts—using integrative and person-centred approaches.

Key features of Coaching Psychology in my practice:

  • Evidence-Based Practice
Grounded in psychological science, I draw on approaches to behaviour change—such as Acceptance and Commitment Coaching (ACC), and Cognitive Behavioural Coaching (CBC)—to support sustainable change and emotional resilience.
  • Strengths-Focused and Values-Led
Rather than focusing solely on problems, coaching psychology helps you recognise your strengths, clarify your values, and build on what already works—creating a foundation for lasting progress.
  • Goal-Oriented, Yet Flexible
While goal-setting is often part of the coaching process, the journey is not about rigid outcomes. We focus on what matters most to you and adapt as your needs evolve.
  • Resilience and Psychological Flexibility
I support clients to navigate challenge and uncertainty, develop adaptive coping strategies, and move forward even in the presence of stress, anxiety, or self-doubt.
  • Relational and Collaborative
Coaching is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Together, we create a safe, non-judgemental space that fosters trust, insight, and growth. The coaching relationship itself is a powerful part of the change process.

Coaching Psychology is defined by the British Psychological Society as:

“The scientific study and application of behaviour, cognition and emotion to deepen our understanding of individuals’ and groups’ performance, achievement and wellbeing, and to enhance practice within coaching.”

It is recognised as the gold standard of psychological coaching, and Chartered Coaching Psychologist is the most senior qualification within the profession—legally protected and independently regulated.

I am currently completing the Accelerated Pathway to Chartered Coaching Psychologist status with the BPS.

This means my existing expertise in psychology and coaching has been recognised, and I am undergoing a structured and rigorous process of professional review and submission to demonstrate my competence across advanced psychological practice, research, ethics, and supervision. This includes independent accreditation of my practice, ongoing professional development, and reflective evaluation of how I integrate psychology into every aspect of my coaching work.

A Professional, Ethical, Research-Informed Practice

I am deeply committed to the professionalisation of coaching. I ensure that my coaching practice is grounded in the same level of rigour, ethical standards, and evidence-base as any other psychological discipline.

My coaching practice is currently being reviewed for independent accreditation by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC).

This additional recognition reflects my commitment to high standards of coaching competence, ethics, and ongoing development.

Whether you are looking to build confidence, adapt to change, improve focus and performance, or navigate personal or professional transitions—coaching psychology can help. My aim is to support you in deepening self-awareness, developing tools that work for your mind and context, and taking purposeful action toward a life that feels meaningful and sustainable.

  • Coaching with Jenny is a collaborative, evidence-based process grounded in coaching psychology—the application of psychological theory and research to help individuals grow, adapt, and thrive. It’s designed to support you in gaining clarity, building confidence, and developing practical strategies to move forward in the areas of life that matter most to you.
  • Whether you’re navigating personal change, managing stress, exploring identity, or aiming for meaningful goals, coaching can help. Jenny takes a holistic and person-centred approach, working alongside you to understand your experiences, uncover patterns, and co-create strategies that feel relevant, achievable, and empowering.
  • At the heart of coaching is a trusted, equal partnership. With Jenny, you’ll be supported by a qualified Coaching Psychologist who brings psychological insight, curiosity, and compassion—without judgment or agenda. The space is yours to think, reflect, problem-solve, and take action in a way that feels both supported and stretchingly real.
  • Unlike therapy, coaching is not focused on diagnosis, past trauma, or mental health treatment. While coaching may touch on emotions and past experiences, the emphasis is on the present and future: what’s important to you, what’s getting in the way, and how you’d like things to be different. If at any point therapy or another form of support seems more appropriate, Jenny will always speak openly and with care.
  • Coaching psychology draws on a range of approaches, such as cognitive behavioural theory, acceptance and commitment coaching, and positive psychology. These evidence-based methods support change at both a practical and psychological level—building resilience, increasing self-awareness, and helping you connect with your values and goals.
  • Many clients come to coaching unsure of exactly what they want—they just know something isn’t working. Others arrive with a clear focus. Both are equally valid starting points. Coaching creates a space to pause, explore, and find your own direction—free from pressure, expectation, or comparison.
  • If you’d like to explore whether coaching with Jenny could be a good fit, you’re warmly invited to book a free, 30-minute introductory call. It’s an informal conversation where you can ask questions, share what’s on your mind, and see how coaching might support you.

The free initial conversation is a chance for us to meet and talk about what you’re looking for from coaching. There’s no pressure or obligation — just a relaxed space to ask questions, share what’s been on your mind, and explore whether this type of support feels right for you.

You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start — and that’s completely okay. This first conversation can help you:

  • Get a feel for how I work and whether it’s a good fit for your needs
  • Talk through the challenges you’re experiencing and what you’d like to change
  • Begin to clarify what you might want from coaching
  • Decide whether now is the right time for support

Your first coaching session with Jenny is a space to begin gently, without pressure or expectation. It’s about getting to know one another, understanding what brings you to coaching, and starting to build a shared understanding of what support could look like for you.

We’ll start by revisiting anything you may have shared in your consultation or intake form, and clarifying what you’d like to explore. You don’t need to arrive with a perfectly defined goal—many people begin with a general sense of being stuck, overwhelmed, or wanting change. That’s absolutely okay. Jenny is trained to help you make sense of where you are now, and what might be possible moving forward.

The session will likely include:

  • Exploration of your current context: What’s happening in your life right now? What’s working, and what feels difficult?
  • Clarifying your hopes for coaching: You may not have a clear end goal yet, but we’ll explore what you’d like more (or less) of in your life.

Co-creating a focus: Based on your needs and preferences, we’ll begin to shape a direction for future sessions—whether that’s working toward a specific outcome, building self-understanding, or learning strategies to support wellbeing.

Jenny draws on a range of coaching psychology models—including Acceptance and Commitment Coaching (ACC), Cognitive Behavioural Coaching (CBC), and positive psychology—to guide the session in a way that feels meaningful and manageable for you.

Jenny will also explain how coaching works, how sessions are structured, and what you can expect from the process. You’ll be invited to ask any questions you have along the way. Coaching is a two-way process—your input is valued, and it’s important that you feel informed, respected, and in control from the very beginning.

Above all, the first session is about building trust and psychological safety. Jenny’s role is to support you with warmth, professionalism, and a deep respect for your autonomy. Nothing is off-limits, and everything is taken at your pace.

  • Coaching with Jenny is a collaborative and psychologically informed process, grounded in coaching psychology to support personal growth, wellbeing, and meaningful change.
  • Each 50-minute session is shaped around you. We usually begin by reflecting on any previous goals, insights, or experiences, and then move into whatever you’d like to focus on. You might arrive with a clear topic—or simply a sense that something isn’t quite right. Both are valid starting points. Jenny draws on a range of coaching psychology frameworks, including Acceptance and Commitment Coaching (ACC), Cognitive Behavioural Coaching (CBC), and positive psychology, to support you in a flexible, responsive way.
  • There’s no pressure to perform or “have it all figured out.” Instead, sessions offer a safe and respectful space to explore, learn, and grow at your own pace. The focus is on helping you move toward what matters to you—whether that’s clarity, confidence, emotional balance, or specific life goals.
  • We’ll explore what’s going on for you right now—without judgement. Coaching can help you make sense of difficult thoughts and feelings, navigate change, and discover practical strategies to move forward. It can also be a space to reflect on what’s going well and build on your existing strengths. Whether you’re navigating stress, identity, relationships, or career transitions, coaching helps you reconnect with your values and develop tools for long-term resilience.
  • Some sessions may be solution-focused and goal-oriented. Others may support deeper insight, perspective-taking, or acceptance. Whether you book a single session or a series, Jenny prepares carefully to ensure each session is purposeful, compassionate, and grounded in best practice.
  • It’s important to understand that while coaching is psychologically informed, it is not therapy. Coaching is not intended to diagnose or treat mental health conditions. If it becomes clear that counselling, medical advice, or other forms of support would be more appropriate, Jenny will always be honest and supportive in guiding you toward the right help.
  • Coaching works best when you bring openness, curiosity, and a willingness to engage with the process. In return, you’ll be met with empathy, professionalism, and a strong ethical foundation rooted in psychological theory.
  • You deserve support that’s thoughtful, respectful, and tailored to who you are. If you’d like to find out more, you’re warmly invited to book a free, no-obligation 30-minute consultation.
